Clear Laminated Glass

Laminated glass is composed of two or more glass sheets bonded together with a clear or colored polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer. By using different colors of PVB, various levels of transparency or translucency and a range of colors can be achieved. Once the plastic is placed between the glass sheets, the entire assembly is subjected to heat and pressure, resulting in a complete adhesion between the vinyl and the glass. In the event of breakage, the glass fragments remain bonded to the PVB. The PVB interlayer holds the glass shards together if the glass breaks. In a full-frame installation, the fractured glass retains residual strength while awaiting replacement.
